About Mr. Gordon
Who am I?
I am 44 year old child who was incredibly lucky to start a career in a field which allows him to play all day long. The love of figuring out how things work is only surpassed by my love of helping others figure things out. Helping people understand the world around them is the main goal of my life.
What is your background?
I am a graduate (twice!) from Alfred University. My original goal was to get my doctorate in astrophysics, but changed my mind two weeks before my graduation as a physics major. Alfred U. had just created a physics teaching Masters program and I jumped into it head first. I have never looked back. In 1986 I joined Wilson Magnet High School in Rochester, NY and stayed for 9 years. I taught everything from Regents & Local physics, to electronics, robotics, math, and computer literacy. I left Wilson and taught Earth Science at West Irondequoit for a year but then was asked to join the science team at Fairport as a physics teacher. I have been at Fairport ever since.
What do you do besides teaching?
When I am not teaching, I am reading, playing on my computer, solving puzzles, playing games, geocaching, hunting or relaxing in the country.
Why DragonPhysics?
I have been playing on computers since the 70's and when a teacher at the time suggested a password could be an anagram of my name, I came up with dragon (of course I used an artistic license and changed a single letter but it was MY password.) Since that day I have always had the name dragon in most of my computer and online world.
Why is there an artist link for the dragon picture?
--because Mr. Gordon is married to a librarian, who insists on that sort of thing.
